Enniscrone separates Castleconnor and Easkey and it was there that these teams met on Saturday evening for this fourth round clash. On a dry evening a strong wind blew into the Easkey end goals and Easkey played with this advantage in the first half.

The first half was a very cagey affair and there was no score until the 13th minute when Alan Cawley scored from play. This was followed by an Easkey score. We reacted well to this and after a strong run from John McDonnell and Kevin Langan, Alan Cawley finished to the roof of the net when one on one with the keeper.  Easkey responded by scoring three points on the trot and should have also have had a goal. In the final 6 minutes of the half we scored two points from Paul Kilcullen and Niall Judge to lead at the break 1-3 v 0-5.

The teams traded scores at the beginning of the half but after 10 minutes we began to stretch away mainly due to Easkey giving away frees within scoring distance which Paul Kilcullen and Kevin Langan exploited. Niall Judge was carried off injured in the 50th minute when we lead by 6 and his replacement Stevie Curley finished to the net with his first touch and this was quickly followed by points from play from Kevin Langan and John McDonnell. In injury time Easkey scored 2 consolation points but we won comfortably and have now assured ourselves of a semi-final place in the competition.
