The minor team travelled to Achonry on Thursday evening to take on Coolaney/Mulinabreena in round four of the championship. Playing against the elements in the opening period the team were slow to start, and had some poor shot selection considering their possesion dominance. A purple patch by C/M with a flourish of two goals put them ahead 2-7 to 0-5 at the interval, our scores coming from Steve Curley, Sean Carrabine and a fine Eoin Kent effort. C/M stretched their lead to 2-9 v 0-6 and a Castleconnor revival was on the cards. A surging run and effort on goal by Kevin McDonnell was illegaly blocked by the C/M netminder and Curley dispatched the resultant spot kick. C/M replied almost immediatelywith a 3 pointer of their own and Points from Jack O'Hora Curley and Carrabine left it at 3-9 v 2-9 in favour of the hosts with 13 minutes remaining. However C/M pushed on after this and ran out easy winners 5-13 v 2-9. The team will look to improve on their performance for their next outing at home to Coolera/Strandhill on September 12th @ 7.00pm.
