No, the scoreline is correct. After 4 quarters of very intense football this game was decided by 1 minute spell in the final quarter. Having to field without the Blakeney boys was a big handicap but we put in a great performance and were desperately unlucky not to reach the final.

Our defence was superb throughout the game with some great blocks put in and some perfectly timed tackles with keeper Owen Gillard a most steady presence in goals. Midfield took some time to get into the game but after the first quarter despite being physically smaller, they balanced out for the rest of the game. The forwards were starved of possession in the first quarter but won plenty of ball after that but this was an evening where too many chances were put wide.

We took the lead at the end of the third quarter when Oisín Flynn scored from an acute angle. In the final quarter Michaels broke up field and were very fortunate to win a free which they scored well and from the kickout won another free to lead. From there to the end we owned the ball but we failed to score despite a large number of chances.

The lads were very disappointed afterwards but the treats from the club afterwards made up somewhat for this.

In the skills competition Oisín Flynn, Colm Naughton and Dáire Barrins took part against 7 other teams and were unlucky again to finish in second position which was a great performance by the lads. The younger members of the team now prepare for the U11 league.

Team: Owen Gillard, Fergal Boland, Brian Durkan, Ruairí Gallagher, Colm Naughton, Dáire Barrins, Ronan Wilson, Jamie Reape, Oisín Flynn, James Tully, Daniel Ruane, Ross Gilmartin, Rian Winters
