On Tuesday evening St.Michaels were visitors to Corballa for this first round game. With a small squad and most of them involved in either U10 or U14 teams the preparation for the team has not been ideal.

On a good evening for football the team playing under the Go Game rules were out of the blocks first a number of attacks when James Tully put us in front. The visitors equalised but a score just before the end of the quarter from by Brian Durkan left us leading at the break 0-2 v 0-1.

Making sure that all squad members get to play 2 quarters meant the team was quite different in each quarter. Owen Gillard came in and scored two points. James Tully followed up his earlier score with another. Oisin Flynn scored also after good play from Colm Naughton and Ronan Wilson. Stout defending from Fergal Boland, David Coggins, Daniel Ruane and Ross Gilmartin kept the visitors at bay whilst the strong running of Dáire Barrins and Andrew Blakeney kept us on the attack. At the end of the third quarter we lead 0-6 v 0-3.

With a very young team in the last quarter including Liam Donnegan, Rian Winters and the fast Matthew Blakeney and some excellent defending by Ruairí Gallagher we managed to keep Michaels scoreless in the last quarter and finished stronger with a final score from Andrew Blakeney.
