On Wednesday evening the first hurling game of the year for Castleconnor club took place at the new Tourlestrane training grounds. It was a fine evening for a game but we were missing on two of our players to call on.

We got off to a good start and all was going well when we took the lead through a Odhran Quinn free after Elliot Beardshall had been fouled. Benny Foody and the Tuffy brothers were playing some excellent hurling with great hooking and blocking. At the halftime break we went in losing 1-1 v 0-1 with the home keeper making an excellent save on the whistle.

An opening salvo from Tourlestrane put us in a bad position despite the superb goalkeeping of Ruairí Gallagher with the Boland brother and Ross Gilmartin showing some good defensive touchs. The young forward line of Dáire Barrins, Kenneth Flynn and Brian Durkan kept plugging away and were successful in the end when Elliot Beardshall put the sliotar into the home net.
